Getting There

I went to uni today, all day. This was the longest I have been out of bed for 8 days, I almost feel proud of myself.

Last Monday afternoon I got a terrible feverish headache and after university went to bed for a nap, got up for tea, then back to bed.
That was basically my routine for all of last week. Technically I didn't miss any uni because I was in a school from 9 o'clock until about 11 which was just enough to get through before heading back to bed with illness.
This weekend didn't improve and involved only venturing out to Blockbuster for more movies to watch in bed.

I missed uni yesterday to prepare myself for important lectures today and try and improve myself.
This morning I had no choice, I had two important seminars about my assignments, a blood test and then a rather pointless, puppet making session.

I made it through the first session, started flagging through the second but went to my blood test and was ok through lunch, I even made it to the library (get me!).
The puppet making session was painful, it seemed the I didn't need yesterday's introduction because it wasn't difficult but I worked through it and made it home early.

After a day of sleep yesterday but hardly any last night I am currently knackered!
I've told myself I need to stay awake until at least 9pm to sleep through until tomorrow but that is proving difficult. I think another trip to Blockbuster (14 day free trial) and a visit from a friend is in order then a very early night.

I feel stupidly proud of myself for being awake all day and going to uni. I can see how it is so easy to feel sorry for yourself and slip into the habit of staying in bed being lazy.
I can't imagine suffering from depression and not leaving the house for days, the smell and feel of fresh air is lovely.

I just hope this virus business is coming to an end, I like normal life!

Listography- 5 Favourite Mugs

This week's listography is fantastic! I had to pick my 5 favourite mugs, I hesitated at first because I have two sets of mugs at uni and at home but by looking at some of the photos I already I had I managed to combine the two. Kate said we should add when we used these mugs and for what beverage, I must reveal that these mugs are all used for tea at anytime of the day with the occasional hot chocolate treat.

My ultimate favourite, a Starbucks christmas mug that cannot be limited to Christmas!

My BIG mug, for when I need a lot of tea!
This mug belongs to my housemate and is almost too heavy to carry because it is sooo huge. I steal it sometimes, during assignment writing in particular. I think it must hold at least 3 cups of tea!

A normal sized mug to remind me to be happy. An old gift from a friend.
Another massive mug! Saves getting up to make another cuppa you see.

Ivy's quiz

Ok. The Rules:
* You must post these rules.
* Each person must post 11 things about themselves on their blog.
* Answer the questions the “tagger” listed for you in her post, and create 11 new questions for the people you tag to answer.
* Choose people to tag and link to them in the post.
* Let each blogger know that you have tagged them.

My eleven questions from Ivy are:
01. Cooking ability aside, what dish/cake/etc have you always wanted to make?
source
Saw this on Pinterest and really wanted to make it but I don't know if I have the patience. There isn't really anything I've Always wanted to make because I've given most things a go, some fail and some succeed, as Bobbet knows!
02. What is the worst film you have ever seen? And why?
Your Highness. Soo bad, saw it at the cinema with my ex boyfriend. None of the jokes were funny and the plot was just rubbish.
source
03. If you could be in any TV show (cancelled ones count too), which would it be?
Friends! Because after 100s of hours of viewing I feel I know the characters well enough to fit right in.
source
04. What was your favourite song you discovered in 2011?
Yeah 3x, Chris Brown. No idea why I just love it!
source
05. What band have you always wanted to see live? And why?
Maroon 5 would be a second choice (as they are a band) but No1 would be Kelly Clarkson.

06. If you could have been born in any era, which would it be? And why?
Maybe the swinging 60's but to be honest I love being a 90s kid!

07. If you could wake up in any novel, which would it be? And why?
Alice in Wonderland. I love tea parties :)
source
08. What’s your hangover cure?
A fry up! Otherwise known as Veggie sausages and eggs with toast. Oh and juice.

09. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be? And why?
Bella Italia. Love the food and the lifestyle.

10. Spongebob Squarepants – genius or crazy? (I had to P:)
Genius, feel good cartoon.

11. What is your favourite lyric?
'What doesn't kill you makes you stronger'- Kelly Clarkson.

My Eleven Questions:
1.What, without fail, always cheers you up?
2.Tea -genius or not?
3.Favourite meal ever?
4.Favourite day out?
5. If you could go on holiday today, where would you go?
6. Favourite Disney classic?
7. What  food could you not live without?
8. You're going onto a desert island and can take one person- who do you take?
9. What is your dream job?
10. Do you have any guilty pleasure reality TV shows?

Happy Valentines Day!

This valentines day to avoid the single blues me and Ivy decided to send each other presents in the post as we're at different sides of the country, as usual.

These were the presents I acquired to send to Ivy.

This is what I received, I love it! If you can't see the cookie cutters they are dinosaurs- awesome! The cupcake tips link to mine and Ivy's baking sessions never going quite smoothly.

I couldn't have asked for a better valentine. I love you Ivy!

Many Reasons to be Cheerful!

Last day of placement tomorrow! Sad to leaving the class but the stress is over for another year which is relieving.
Had my final observation today which was risky because I did a very active lesson involving jelly cubes and chopsticks, anyway it went well and the kids loved it.
Then after my tutors feedback I had my grading meeting and got 9/9 'good's with aspects of 'very good' so as a third year I am well on the way to 'very good' and am very happy!

Time for celebration! Thank you's for the staff and goodies for the children tomorrow-

I'm spending this evening (paperwork free) making McDonalds 'fries' boxes so we can do origami and nets tomorrow. I also have marshmallow and spaghetti tower building planned.
Highlight of the week- art club's muriel, rainbows, snow and the beach. This was the result of a cancelled local trip because of the ice. Very excited to show it in assembly tomorrow.

I love teaching!

Riddles with year 3

So we read this riddle out twice in my class then asked the children what they thought i could be-

I have no colour, not even white,
but sometimes I’m wide and blue.
Sometimes I’m still, sometimes I rush,
and I can fall down on you.
I can change my shape, I often do,
but I’m hard to hold in your hand.
You need me to make your castle stand up
when you’re playing in the sand.
I haven’t much taste, but on a hot day
Your tongue’s hanging out for me.
Then I am cold, but I can be hot
When I’m in your mum’s cup of tea.

child 1- 'Is it a triangle?'
Teacher- 'No, not quite'
child 2- 'is it a toilet?'
Teacher- 'erm....it could be something in a toilet...'
child 1- 'The poo on the seat!'

Woop!

Last weekend of hard graft this year as I prepare for my last week of teaching placement.

The paperwork sucks but I'm loving teaching in school, although my lessons have their ups and downs. Thursday is the day of reckoning when I have my final observation then the meeting that decides my overall grade. It's going pretty well to be honest so I should be ok.

Went to Pizza Express last night for a lovely chickeny pizza. Had a mini dessert with tea, it was semi- freddo gelato (semi-frozen ice cream) with nougat and marsala wine- yummy!

I just popped into town to buy some goodies for the package I will be sending to Ivy for valentine's day. I'm so excited to see her open it (over a video call!) because I know she will love it. I would tell you what it contains but she could be reading so I can't,  sorry!

Right, back to the lesson plans!
I hope everyone else is loving the highs of life, even through the lows.
