I've been enjoying the sun this weekend!

Mothers day weekend

I went home this weekend for mothers day celebrations and also for my Grandma's birthday which is tomorrow.
On Saturday we had a relaxing day, I bought mum these flowers....
and she and I had fun making dark chocolate truffles to give to Grandma. A messy and lengthy process but it was well worth it!

On Saturday evening Mum and Dad went out for their anniversary and I made chocolate cupcakes with peanut butter frosting (Snickerlicious) then hid the evidence!
I presented them to her on Sunday morning along with a box of Lush bath goodies.

The cakes didn't turn out quite as planned as the icing was a flop. But I rescued it, and even if I say so myself, they tasted delicious!

Then Grandma arrived and we had cake, tea and chocolate. We had a lovely lunch (M&S deal) which Mum didn't have to cook (really), then I drove us to pick out a handbag for Grandma as her birthday present and we came back and had a walk.

Overall it was a lovely weekend and I got some spending money from Grandma which was burning a whole in my pocket. I went into the city yesterday and spoilt myself to some spotty converse and a Jelly Belly scented iPhone case (it came with free sweets).

England

Since leaving college something I've really missed is lying on the field in the sun in free lessons, feeling carefree.

I've never had the chance to do this a lot since, Uni work piles in the last term and then over the summer I have the chance to sit in my garden alone on the random sunny days but am often trying to earn money.

I reminisce about this now as I realise I will be spending most of my summer in Italy when i go back to work at camps again (June-August). Of course this involves a lot of sun but it's just far too hot to sit out or even be outside for long. I didn't really see much greenery or open space either.

I've come to realise that I love Italy but I really really love England. Yes, even the weather. That small amount of sun we get is much more appreciated and the plants look so fresh and healthy.

There are lots of other reasons why I love England like drinking tea and traditional afternoon tea, cake and scones. What's not to love? Tea parties are like my favourite thing ever!

I also love spring, the daffodils are so bright and happy and it just cheers me up!

Listography- 5 photos that sum up my week

Unfortunately this wasn't my average week as I am poorly (as stated in previous post) so this week was self indulgent and rather repetitive.

Firstly, a lot of time spent in bed, a free DVD every night from Blockbuster and lots of chocolate....
and ice cream.
Average contents of my bedside table- medication and tea.
On a venture out into the outside world I went to starbucks with a friend for tea and a muffin (and water- to keep the fluids up).

Highlight of the week- friends came round last night to play 'Game of Life'. I was destined to not have children by missing every space on the board so this is a picture of my lonely car- at least I have a husband!
